Zaahir

When you look around your room, do you see many stories hidden in objects all around you? An old gift from someone in school or a song that reminds you of a time?

These small totems of memories that harbour worlds of stories in them, are all around us and once in a while help us connect and create a special bond with someone new.

'Zaahir' was a service and experience to be enjoyed within a community where objects-stories-people got connected.

The design, execution and delivery of the service for the pilot project ‘Zaahir’ was wrapped up in four weeks. The service was piloted in the NID Gandhinagar campus and was executed within the same community, keeping the scalability of the service outside
the campus as a major factor in its design.

The need for the service emerged out of a research activity along the campus, measuring the needs that are unfulfilled or have a potential to be deepened at the site.

Decoding the experience of the Service

Over a course of three days, the activity of Need assessment led us to certain keywords that the NID community needed/expected to change. Most of these needs were centered around the theme of stress, isolation and mindlessness. We further explored what do people mean by "stress" and what causes isolation in them.

All of us are made up of our experiences and we narrate them through our stories. All these stories live in several experiences around us, in totems of reminders of how we felt at that moment.

As we navigate our new experiences, we build them on our past ones. Mutual connections are built just that way; Over a shared feeling, song, habit, or even the love for chai.

To Conclude..

Four of us poured our hearts into the experience because the service started with our conversations over chai, telling each other our stories. As we bonded, we realised that was the answer to the need we had identified within the NID Gandhinagar Campus and is the need of many communities and organisations.

We received highly positive feedback from our peers! The next thing in line is to be able to scale the service physically as well as digitally.
